Overview

Bed Bugs are reddish brown, small and flat insects which live on human and animal blood. This insects are wingless and normally feed on animals and human blood at night. Beds bugs can live without blood for months but when they do bite humans they can transmit disease, cause skin rashes and allergic reactions.

Where bed bugs found?

you can find bed bugs at Apartments, Hotels, Cruise ships, buses and trains. They more common in some parts of the world like North and South America, Africa, Asia and Europe. Bed bugs can get into your home through many ways for exams they can move from a neighboring apartment to yours or you could carry them when transferring furniture, luggage, purse or a bag which was set down in a bed bug infected area.

Are bed Bugs Harmful ?

There is no evidence bedbugs can transmit disease but the spot where you are bitten by them could itchy, uncomfortable and  irritation. Some people are allergic to their bits which can cause hives, blisters and intense itching.

Signs of Bedbug infestation

The first symptom of a bed bug infestation is the presence of bit marks on the skin on your arms and shoulders. Some people take about two weeks to show this marks while others never show them at all so it is important to use other methods.

The things to be be on a lookout for are;

– Blood stains on the sheet or mattress

– Seeing any bed bugs around where you live

-Bed bug shed skin or their poop

Preventing and Treating infestations

-To prevent an infestation you have to take certain precautions after being to an infested area  like checking your shoese before leaving infested area and not taking your cloth inside the house.

– Use a protective cover on your mattress to prevent them from hiding in it.

– if you already have a bed bug infestation then contact a pest control professional who has experience with bedbugs

– Install blocking under doors and holes
